The lodge at Santanoni

The main lodge at Santanoni was located 4.9 miles from the gatehouse on the shore of Newcomb Lake. With an excellent view of the Adirondack High Peaks, it consisted of a group of six separate log buildings including a main living and dining lodge with two bedrooms upstairs; four sleeping cabins with a total of seven bedrooms; a kitchen and service building with seven staff bedrooms. Connected by a common deck and roof system and constructed in the Adirondack Rustic style, the complex incorporated a Japanese flavor with its red roof and trim details. The whole structure, if viewed from the air, was laid out to resemble a phoenix in flight.

Now owned by the State of New York, Santanoni is open to the public for hiking and camping on the grounds.

The original painting was sold and is now in private collection. Prints in various sizes are available by visiting the (prints page)
