Since 1991 Ken has been working in watercolor
specializing in commission work. Ken is currently working on a series
inspired by the Adirondack Great Camp Santanoni.
Built in the 1890s by Robert & Anna Pruyn and located in
Newcomb, New York, this jewel of the Adirondack Park is artistically
captured in this series entitled "At Santanoni". Three pieces from
this series were included in a group of seven of Ken's works which were
recently acquired by General Electric for their corporate collection. |

Ken is a 2004 recipient of an
Individual Artist Grant funded with public funds from the New York State
Council on the Arts, Decentralization Program and private funds,
administered locally by the Lower Adirondack Regional Arts Council.
His project entitled "Blue Plate Special" will focus on local diners in
Warren and Washington Counties. Ken believes that this vital part of the
fabric of the community is fading away, being replaced with chain
restaurants and coffee houses.
If you own or work for a diner and would like to
see it included in this project, call or email Ken Wheeler.
This group of
paintings will be exhibited in January 2005 at Crandall Public Library
with a reception open to the public. |
